Roland joined IDATE in 1998 and he is now Principle Analyst. He is responsible of IDATE activities covering FTTx fields. Mr Montagne has carried out several studies dealing with European Broadband roll out as annual Surveys on Access for the DGInfSo.
Since 2004, Roland is leading FTTx works at IDATE and is also project leader, twice a year, for the FTTH Council Europe FTTH projects panorama (15th edition in 2017). He also achieved a major study for the French Government on scenarios for deploying FTTH in France. He has been involved on FTTH cost model analysis for the UK. Since 2013, on yearly bases, Roland is conducting FTTH projects Panorama for Latin America FTTH Chapter (14 countries covered), FTTH Council APAC (14 countries studied/4th edition), FTTH Council MENA (19 countries covered), and leading an annual worldwide FTTx watch service proposed by IDATE and covering more than 70 countries (7th edition). In 2016, Roland conducted the first FTTH Panorama for Africa (FTTH Council Africa).
Roland Montagne in his position of Director DigiWorld Institute UK is responsible for the Think Tank activities of IDATE DigiWorld in the UK (nearly 60 companies’ members).
Roland is a regular speaker in key events related to FTTH topics at an international level.
Roland Montagne is a Telecommunications Engineer (ENST Paris, 1994) and received a Master on Electronics (Paris 6, 1994). He also worked for AT&T Bell laboratories (USA) and France Telecom R&D labs working on optical communications.
